After an extraordinary 40-year career in engineering, Chris Quigley, PE, Sr. VP, Georgia, is beginning a well-earned retirement.
Throughout his career, Chris has been a trusted leader, accomplished engineer, dedicated mentor, and passionate advocate for the profession. His technical knowledge, strong client relationships, and commitment to excellence have made a lasting impact on DCCM and communities throughout Georgia.
Four Decades of Engineering Leadership
In his role as Sr. VP, Georgia, Chris led a diverse portfolio of projects involving water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, utility extensions, dam renovations, flood studies, and site development.
Serving as both Engineer of Record and Owner’s Engineer, he guided projects through every stage, from initial planning, funding, and permitting to design and construction administration. His experience allowed him to help municipal and private clients navigate complex technical, regulatory, and financial challenges while delivering infrastructure designed to serve communities for years to come.
Among his many accomplishments, Chris served as City Engineer for the cities of Elberton and Lavonia. He also successfully secured hundreds of millions of dollars in grants and low-interest loans, helping communities throughout Georgia fund vital infrastructure improvements that may not otherwise have been possible.
Service to the Engineering Profession
Chris’s influence extends well beyond the projects he helped deliver. Throughout his career, he has remained actively involved in advancing and supporting the engineering profession.
He served as Chair of the Georgia Engineering Alliance in 2007 and as President of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia in 2003. He is also a lifetime member of the Georgia Association of Water Professionals.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Chris earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Georgia and Alabama. He is an Approved Engineer of Record for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division Safe Dams Program and holds additional certifications related to soil classification and design.
These credentials reflect only part of what Chris brought to his work. His ability to understand clients’ needs, develop practical solutions, and guide others through challenging assignments made him a respected resource for colleagues, clients, and communities alike.
A Lasting Legacy
More importantly, Chris has been a valued colleague and trusted mentor. He freely shared his experience with others, helped develop the next generation of engineering professionals, and approached every project with integrity and a genuine commitment to serving the client.
His legacy can be seen not only in the infrastructure he helped create, but also in the people he encouraged, the relationships he built, and the communities he helped position for a stronger future.
Continuing a Life of Service
Although Chris is retiring from the engineering profession, he has no plans to slow down.
He will continue serving as President of Choose Again USA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps people address mental health challenges through emotional-healing workshops, individual sessions, and retreats.
Chris also plans to expand his longtime involvement with Troop 370 of Scouting America and spend more time sailing, traveling, and making memories with family and friends.
Please join us in congratulating Chris on a remarkable engineering career and wishing him happiness, health, and continued success in this exciting new chapter. We thank him for his many contributions to DCCM, the engineering profession, and the communities we serve, as well as the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
