DCCM replaced the previously signal-controlled intersection at Carmel Drive and Pennsylvania Street. The goal of the design was to create a more consistent and efficient corridor for the traveling public. Our team focused on providing a design that reduced costly impacts. This roundabout’s footprint avoided an existing parking lot and multiple utilities, saving the City millions of dollars in utility box relocations and land acquisition. Upon installation, the roundabout was able to provide an efficient flow throughout the corridor and for neighboring roundabouts.
